Crisis Intervention
Crisis Intervention is emergency psychological care aimed at assisting individuals in a crisis situation to restore equilibrium to their functioning and minimize the psychological trauma associated with the crisis event. It is a short-term therapeutic process that focuses on the rapid resolution of an immediate crisis or emergency using available personnel, family, and/or environmental resources. The priority of crisis intervention is to increase stabilization. Our psychologists, counsellors, and psychotherapists have experience and expertise in providing the necessary support in situation of crisis to the victim, next of kin, organization, and other authorities. We provide crisis intervention in group (Critical Incident Debriefing) or individually on site, virtually, and at the safe environment of our office.
Some examples of crisis:
Natural disaster ~ earthquake, tsunami, fire, flood, volcano, hurricane, weather related incident, etc.
Man made disaster ~ factory explosion, fog, oil spill, building collapse, etc.
Family disruption or disturbance ~ new born, death, illnesses (mental and physical), divorce/separation, abortion, etc.
Economic change ~ job loss, financial struggles, theft, etc.
Life events ~ new birth, death, children leaving home, retirement, etc.
Violence ~ accident, domestic violence, assault, rape, shooting, pirate attacks, crime, plane crash, war, riot, etc.
Suicide ~ threat, attempts, or completed
Crisis Response Training
Our psychologists, counsellors, and psychotherapists have the skills and expertise to provide the required training for various level of personnel to effectively response and prepare for crisis. Some examples of workshop/training we can offer are listed below.
We can also customized specific training/workshop to the need of an organization/group.
1. An introduction to the fundamentals of Crisis Intervention. How to provide psychological first aid to people affected by critical events.
Recommended for organization, agencies, and individuals working with people who experienced crisis situations. Provides baseline training in theory of crisis, crisis care strategies such as contact, safety and comfort, stabilization, information gathering, practical assistance, social support, providing helpful information and linking with specialty care.
2. School Crisis Response. Prevention and Intervention.
Recommended for teachers, school-based mental health professionals (counsellor), administrators/management, security professionals, and other educators.
3. Strategies for working with clients suffering from mental illness.
Recommended for organizations, agencies, and individuals dealing with clients suffering from mental illness.
